LGHS 1st Tournament
Le Grand High School's 1st Tournament a Success!
It was a small tournament of about 60 competitors total, but it was well supported by parents and students of Le Grand High School. Nearly all competitors from Le Grand High School were winners of an award on this day and all of the Le Grand High School competitors made Kyoshi Sid Rayford a very proud and happy karate teacher.
A Goup Effort
The tournament administration and coordination was a group effort of several people who gave of their time and energy to make the day a success. The group picture below also includes some of the LGHS competitors which begins with the fifth person in the back row (L to R): Maurisio Ramirez, Shane Grissom, Dustin Slate, Mario Barragan, Josh Ragan, Rommel Martinez, Armando Guzman, Olga Guzman, Ah Xiong, and Hailee Slate (score keeper). The LGHS Impact for Success site coordinator, Andre Griggs, is the second to the last person (L to R) kneeling in the front row.
Renshi Jake Rayford There to Encourage Competitors
It was great to have Renshi Jake Rayford there to give the competitors an encouraging "pep talk" in the staging area. Renshi Jake has a great deal of tournament experience as was able to help the first time competitors of Le Grand High School mentally prepare for the competiton. Renshi Jake was also there to congratulate the competitors on their successes. Pictured below (L to R): Armando Guzman, Dustin Slate, Renshi Jake Rayford, Maurisio Ramirez, and Shane Grissom.
